In collaboration with a diverse network of partners across LA County, LA Compost co-creates spaces that foster local compost access, restorative practices, and community empowerment. Community composting thrives through collective effort, and LA Compost has been at the forefront of this movement in Los Angeles for more than a decade. In 2024 alone, the LA Compost community diverted 4.2 million pounds of organic material from landfills.
Volunteer opportunities are available across many of LA’s neighborhoods throughout the week. From supporting compost hubs and turning piles at community gardens, urban farms, and parks, to helping with food scrap collection at local farmers markets, there are plenty of ways to get involved.
Ages: 16+ and up are welcome to volunteer with signed parent consent for minors.
