Safe Place for Youth (SPY) was founded by community members in response to the urgent need for supportive services for young people experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, homelessness in West LA. Guided by its community roots, SPY’s mission is to empower youth to thrive by creating lasting, community-driven solutions that address racial and social inequities.
Volunteers are a vital part of SPY’s work. Opportunities are available at the Drop-In Center—primarily Monday through Friday during regular business hours, with some weekend shifts as well. Volunteers can contribute in many ways, including preparing and serving meals, leading or supporting arts and wellness workshops, participating in community gardening, organizing clothing drives, and helping with holiday programs.
